Heart screening and imaging

Oviedo Medical Center offers a variety of diagnostic services to assess your heart's conditions. Our team is able to perform:

  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Echocardiograms (ECGs)
  • Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
  • Peripheral vascular angiography
  • Renal angiography
  • Stress testing

Our cardiac catheterization lab is equipped with a specialized imaging system that allows doctors to see the blood vessels of the heart. During catheterization, X-ray dye is inserted into the coronary arteries to detect any blockages.

Heart attack care

Most of the damage sustained from a heart attack occurs within the first two hours. If recognized during this time period, the heart attack can be treated before the heart is compromised.

Signs of a heart attack

Many times, people may experience these early heart attack symptoms:

  • Anxiety
  • Back pain
  • Chest pressure, squeezing or discomfort
  • Fatigue
  • Feeling of fullness
  • Jaw pain
  • Nausea
  • Pain that travels down one or both arms
  • Shortness of breath

The most important factor in the treatment of a developing heart attack is getting emergency care quickly. If you are suffering from centralized chest discomfort or suspect you are having a heart attack, call 911 immediately.
